Trutta Marsanne | Harcourt, Victoria | 2020

Taste: An interesting nose intrigues your senses before the palate delivers flavours of Apricot, lemon curd, saline and citrus pith zipped up with zesty acid and lovely structure. This wine has heaps of drive, energy and is sensationally textural.

Fun Fact: Marsanne is one of the world’s rarest grapes. Alongside it’s home in the Rhone Valley of France, Marsanne is only grown in three other countries – The USA, Switzerland and Australia. Lucky us!

Mood: When it’s sunny outside and your feeling Jolly, grab some fresh seafood (the richer kind) and open this guy. Made for outdoor dining in summertime.

Grass Roots and Chi: Jake Winther is the guy behind these wines. Devoted to Central Victoria, Jake is a small-scale producer making some high-quality wines from grapes that are grown on the traditional lands of the Dia Dia Wurrung people.

He acknowledges the Dia Dia Wurrong people to be the custodians of this patch of earth and respectfully grows his grapes organically in order to continue nurturing the lands.

In the winery he continues to practice hands off, making minimal intervention wines that are unfiltered and not fined.

‘Trutta’ is a family name and is inspired by the pioneering spirit of Jakes’ ancestors, who left Cornwall (Soph’s home) for the gold rush hills of Gippsland in the 19th Century. (Possibly why Soph has a soft spot for these guys, obvs…along with their winemaking skills too).

Vegan Friendly. Drink now and until 2024.
