Little Reddie Colbinabbin Nebbiolo/Refosco
Little Reddie Colbinabbin Nebbiolo/Refosco
Little Reddie Nebbiolo/Refosco | Bendigo, VIC | 2020
Taste: Each vintage just keeps getting better and better with the 2020 blend of Nebbiolo and Refosco hitting the spot from Pat Underwood at Little Reddie. Light and fresh, this wine is filled with purple fruits, strawberries and array of herbs and spices. Flavours of tar and leather add further complexity whilst the acidity lifts the wine and keeps the light furry tannins nicely in check. This red would also be great with a slight chill if you fancy it.
Soph says; who has tried a Refosco Dal Peduncolo Rosso and Nebbiolo blend before? And second who has tried an Aussie made version?! Soph was super excited when she came across it as there is hardly any Nebbiolo grown in Australia and even less Refosco. FYI…Refosco originates from Italy and is the parent grape of Corvina (which makes Valpolicella) and is the grandparent grape of Rondinella (which makes Amarone). Nebbiolo is the famous grape pppppoppthat comes from the North West of Italy, making the famous Barolo.
Grass Roots and Good Chi: Pat Underwood is the guy behind the Little Reddie Wines. Taking fruit from multiple sites across Central Victoria, Pat makes wines that are charismatic, joyful and friendly.
Pat reckons his range is all about learning… “it’s about having fun, exploring possibilities, having the freedom to explore ideas, not being afraid of mistakes and trying to make the best wine possible.”
Bryony reckons Little Reddie is tuning people into unknown regions and making some seriously delicious natural and experimental wines that are worth looking out for.
